On May 21 to 22, The APEC Innovation City Workshop: Digital Transformation and Industry-Academia Collaboration Development Policy Exchange was successfully held in Beijing. As an official supported project under the 2026 APEC China Year and the APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) framework, this workshop was co-hosted by the New Quality Productive Forces Promotion Center, MOST and the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN). The Zhongguancun Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance (ZGCTA) participated in depth as a supporting organization. Li Junkai, Secretary-General of ZGCTA and Director of the Center for International and Regional Cooperation at the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, was invited to attend the workshop and deliver a keynote speech, contributing think tank wisdom to the coordinated development of innovation cities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Li Junkai delivered her keynote speech titled Open Collaboration for Win-Win Progress: International Sci-Tech Cooperation Powers Beijing’s Innovation City Development. She systematically elaborated on the core connotations and key characteristics of innovation cities, comprehensively shared Beijing's practical achievements and data outcomes in four major areas: scientific research cooperation, technology transfer and transformation, sci-tech talent exchange, and sci-tech cooperation ecosystem. She also summarized three core experiences: follow systematic thinking, uphold openness and inclusiveness, and stick to the combination of government guidance and market leadership. Her presentation received high recognition and positive responses from representatives of participating APEC economies.
Moving forward, ZGCTA will continue to deeply integrate into the APEC multilateral cooperation mechanism, focusing on promoting think tank exchanges, policy coordination, achievement transformation, and international talent mobility. It will empower the construction of the Beijing (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei) International Center for Science and Technology Innovation through open cooperation, and continuously contribute wisdom and solutions to building an open, resilient and efficient Asia-Pacific innovation ecosystem.
